Build the Assessment Day Around the Tests You Need
Your workforce may need more than excavator certification. If some employees also operate dumpers, telehandlers or other plant, tell us when you enquire so we can consider a combined booking.
The lowest daily limit among the categories selected applies to the whole day. With an excavator assessment included, the maximum is four tests altogether.
Those four places can be shared between different employees and eligible categories. If one person takes two assessments, they use two places.
Example: A Groundworks Team

Four tests total, arranged during one visit where the equipment and site support each assessment.
Example: Excavators and Rollers
You could book two excavator tests and two ride-on roller tests within the four-test limit.
A roller-only day can accommodate up to six tests. Including an excavator reduces the combined day’s maximum to four.
We confirm the category mix, instructor coverage and timetable before accepting the booking. Each test needs the correct equipment and a suitable working area.

Why Group Testing Can Cost Less
For several experienced operators, a customer-site booking is usually the cheapest overall route. You share the instructor visit and reduce separate trips to a training centre.
It also gives your site team one schedule to manage. Machinery can be prepared in advance and employees released for their assessments at the agreed times.
We quote against the actual tests required, rather than assume every employee needs the same course. Include all categories in your enquiry so we can work out the appropriate capacity and number of visits.
Check the Site Before Committing to a Date
An excavator assessment needs space and facilities for the full practical tasks. A spare machine in a busy corner of the site is not necessarily enough.
We need suitable arrangements for travelling, digging, loading, reinstatement and attachment changing, together with a serviceable excavator, its manual and relevant records. Candidates also need the requested identification and PPE, plus suitable space for theory assessment.

Operating a digger regularly does not always mean someone is ready for every assessment task. If an operator rarely changes buckets, loads vehicles or completes inspections independently, discuss that with us before choosing test only.
An Experienced Worker Test assesses existing knowledge and practical ability. Additional instruction may be appropriate where there are gaps.
