Yes, experienced and competent operators can take the Experienced Worker Test without completing the novice course.
The EWT is 1 day with a maximum of 4 candidates. Operators must already have the knowledge and practical ability required to complete the assessment independently.

Excavators are also commonly used to handle suspended loads, particularly during groundworks and civil engineering. However, normal excavator training shouldn’t be treated as automatically covering every lifting operation.
