NPORS Loading Shovel Training is designed to deliver the necessary skills, knowledge, and understanding for safe and efficient operation of a loading shovel. The wheeled loader training is tailored for plant operators who require both practical and theoretical instruction to operate the machinery on-site.

• Practical Skills: Hands-on training in loading, unloading, manoeuvring, and maintaining the equipment.
• Safety Procedures: Emphasis on pre-operational checks, PPE usage, and safety protocols to prevent accidents.
• Maintenance Techniques: Routine maintenance practices to ensure the machine’s optimal performance.
• Assessment and Certification: An NPORS practical observation and a short-answer question paper to evaluate delegates’ knowledge and skills. Successful participants receive NPORS/CSCS Construction Plant Operator Card or a Traditional NPORS Operators Card.

The Wheeled Loading Shovel Course content is designed to meet national standards and industry best practices, fully accredited by NPORS. It includes:

• Roles and responsibilities of plant operators.
• Basic construction, controls, and terminology of loading shovels.
• Manufacturer’s requirements and relevant regulations.
• Pre-use checks and configuring the plant for site and highway travel.
• Traveling over various terrains and manoeuvring in confined spaces.
• Extracting and sorting materials, constructing ramps, and loading vehicles.
• Shutting down and securing the wheeled loading shovel.
• Loading and unloading procedures for transportation.

Successful delegates will be qualified to operate a loading shovel safely and competently on a construction site. Depending on their chosen certification route, they will receive either a Trained Operator CSCS/NPORS Card or a Traditional Operators Card, with varying validity periods.

The Loading Shovel N209 NPORS Certification is intended for anyone needing training and assessment to operate a loading shovels, including construction and non-construction industry delegates.

The Loading Shovel Course duration varies based on the delegates’ experience:

• Novice Training: Five days, maximum of three delegates.
• Refresher Training: One day, maximum of three delegates.
• Assessment Only: One day, maximum of six delegates.
